Web 2.0 … The Machine is Us/ing Us

I was recently discussing with Nils on my previous post as to what Web 2.0 actually is. Coincidentally I came across a post over at Have Laptop Will Travel with reference to Web 2.0. There was a video named “Web 2.0 … The Machine is Us/ing Us” included in the post and I have to say, it is pretty good. It gives you a great insight as to what Web 2.0 actually is. So if you’re not entirely sure as to what Web 2.0 is then this video may just enlighten you.

You may find that the above video is not showing up for you if you’re using Internet Explorer, if this is the case click here to view to video directly.

I have to say, the music on it is great! – It has quite a technological feel to it I think 😛 .

Video is not working in IE7 at the time of writing this, I watched it fine in firefox though. 🙂

That was very suprisingly entertaining and the information did not go over my head ;). I suppose I can say I understand the basic concept behind Web 2.0 now although I do think there is probably more to it than this video portrays. 🙂

  • Nils says:

That’s a pretty cool video actually. Hadn’t seen it before.

As stated above, it certainly doesn’t cover everything but it explains the basics. It offers a feeling, which web 2.0 to a large extent indubitably is as well.

Btw, have you messed with your feed? Google reader kept saying there was one new article, but it wouldn’t show. I unsubscribed and re-subscribed and things work fine now. Just so you know.

  • Aidan says:

@Shaun – Thanks for telling me of the problem, I will provide a link for those not using Firefox.

@Nils – Yeah, I think you and Shaun are right in what you are saying, “it explains the basics”.
I haven’t actually done anything with my feed; I am not sure why it has gone funny for you. Hopefully now that you have re-subscribed it should work fine 🙂 – If the problem arises again just let me know and I will see what I can do 🙂 .

    Cracking little video that.

I like the way it explores the fact, in basic terms, the development from ‘before’ to ‘now’; somehow quite meaningful in a deeper sense also.

Oh and you’re definitely right with the music 😉

  • Hans says:

Thanks for the video. I blogged right away 😀

  • Aidan says:

I am glad both of you (Hans and Kyle) liked the video, obviously I won’t take the credit for it! The credit has to go to Michael Wesch – Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology at Kansas State University for creating this video.

I don’t know if this is know already or not but this video has recently been featured on youtube’s homepage.

  • Sam says:

I noticed that yesterday Shaun – thought it was quite apt that it featured on here only a few days earlier 🙂

  • Adem says:

I’ve just popped along here from Nils’ blog, so “Hi” from me, and just wanted to say thanks for linking to the video as it’s pretty cool and puts web2.0 into simpler terms (as simple as it can get on a Saturday morning with a hangover!).

    Nice blog too.

  • […] I was over at Aiden’s blog and thought this was a very interesting video which was on this post. […]
